Who would have thought kids would get up early on a Saturday to participate in a math competition? Well, Keller had 15 kids that came together, formed teams and showed up with their game face on at Mead Junior High in Elk Grove Village on Saturday May 5. Keller had 7th and 8th grade students that participated and formed 3 teams.
The competition was made up of 15 teams from all the junior high schools in District 54 and Lincoln Prairie. After the first round, 8 teams went on to a championship bracket. All 3 Keller teams made it to the championship bracket. After that round, Keller sent 2 teams to the semi-finals. The semi-finals was made up of 2 Keller teams and 2 Mead teams. The top 2 teams would go on to the final round. Unfortunately, we did not make it into the final round, but our Keller Wildcats represent our school with a positive attitudeand overall excellent mathematical abilities.
7th grade students who are interested in competing next year should consider joining our math team in the Fall. It is a great way to get started and an even better way to challenge your mathematicalabilities!
