Dear Keller Families,

The students and staff definitely won the week! I am definitely looking forward to the afternoon today as we will conclude our Friday with two grade level assemblies kicking off Keller’s third annual Polar Plunge event. The Polar Plunge is a fundraising effort benefiting Special Olympics and the athletes. Last year, Keller raised over $54,000 dollars for Special Olympics, while also raising the most money in all of Illinois amongst schools participating. In the last two years, we have raised over $80,000 benefiting Special Olympics. To help motivate the students and get them excited for the event, ten lucky students will be selected to dump a 5-gallon bucket of ice water on me during the assemblies.

Additionally, at our assemblies, I will challenge the students and staff to make a positive impact once again with taking the plunge!!  My message to the students and staff at the assemblies is that at Keller, what truly defines us is not just what we achieve, but the legacy we build together—a legacy perfectly captured by former NFL Head Coach, Tony Dungy: “It’s about the journey, mine and yours, and the lives we can touch, the LEGACY we can leave, the world we can change for the better.”

Information on how to support Keller and our event will be provided in the near future. Have a wonderful weekend.

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our front office staff or me. Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and support and we will work “TOGETHER AS ONE” to ensure the success of our students.

Regards,

Tom Barbini
